Email Templates

InkSoft uses a built-in email template system to generate and send system email messages for many of the activities that occur at your InkSoft webstores such as Order Receipts.

While the email templates are already configured to be personalized to your business / webstores, you can customize them further to add more value. You can also add custom HTML to your email templates.

Getting Started

  1. Hover over Marketing button on the navigation
  2. Select Email Templates

To access email templates by webstore:

  1. Select the webstore that you wish to access from the drop-down
  2. Click Apply

Email Templates Management

  1. Email Template Editor: Click the name of each email template to reveal the editor
  2. Copy Template: You can copy one email template and make modifications. *This is recommended, so you can create your own version. Your version will then override the Global original version.
  3. Preview Template: Click the preview icon (magnifying glass) to see the email template
  4. Delete Template: Remove the Email template from the selected store. This option is limited to Email Templates that you created. NOT the global Email templates InkSoft provides

Editing Email Template Example:

By clicking the name of each email template, you can access the editor. Or by clicking the duplicate/copy icon you can create a new version with the same editing format (see next example below).

  1. Template Name: For internal use only, this will allow you to organized by carefully naming your email templates. *We recommned keeping the original name + the store you are creating it for. For ex. Order Receipt- My Store Name. This way you will know what email template and what store it was created for.
  2. Email Subject: Choose the subject for your email that users will see. *Short Code is accepted in the subject, view the link provided in the next step to see all the short code options*
  3. Insert Merge Field: Merge field will add data into an email. For example, you can insert the shoppers first name by using %ToFirstName% View all available merge fields here.
  4. E-mail Body: You can use the editor to style and format your email to your liking. The Editor will provide some basic formatting option to help make the email look just right.
  5. HTML: You can switch to see the HTML view of the email, to help make more specific changes. * Please note: InkSoft does not provide technical support for custom HTML.
  6. Created On: Displays when the Email template was created.
  7. Last Modified: Displays the when the Email template was last edited.

Click Save to update. We recommend previewing and triggering a test email to validate.

Copy Example:

After clicking Copy Template you will be directed to the page shown below, much of the options are the same as when editing the Email Template.

  1. Copy To Store: Select the store you would like the new template version to be copied to.

The preview allows you to see a plain text view of the Email template, along with some additional information like the Name, Subject, Last Modified, etc...
