Setting up UPS

Note:You will need your UPS account number, Access Key and UPS.com account login information. To find your Access Key and Account Number Click Here.

Setting up UPS

To get to your Shipping Settings click on:

  1. Settings
  2. Shopping Cart Settings
  3. Shipping

To add UPS as a shipping account, you will click on the drop down, Select Shipping Account: UPS- You will want to make sure that your settings are as followed:

4.   Active: Check Yes to make this shipping option available in the shopping cart

5.   Sort Order: Here you can choose the order in which shoppers will see your shipping carriers and methods available (Example: you can make Pick-up display first, UPS as the second options etc...)

6.  Automated Integration: Check Yes to use your UPS account credentials to generate real-time shipping rates. If this is not selected, you will create your own pricing sturcture for shipping options (i.e. flat rate shipping)

7.   Click Save

 

Setting up UPS Account using Real-Time Rates

Selecting Yes for Automated Integration will then prompt you for the following credentials: (If you plan on using Full Pricing Control skip to the next step)

  1. Select Real-Time Rates
  2. Split Large Shipments: This will allow you to create multiple packages once a maximum weight becomes present
  3. Label Format: Select one of the files for your printable shipping labels GIF, JPG, PNG, PDF, EPL2, SPL, ZPL, and STAR
  4. Enter UPS Account Number
  5. Enter UPS Account Username
  6. Enter UPS Access Key
  7. Enter UPS Account Password
  8. Enter Email (This is the email address you would like to communicate to the shipping vendor)
  9. Click Save

Side Note: We recommend clicking 'test' to ensure that you've successfully entered the correct UPS credentials - This will give you the following methods that you can create/are available within your UPS Account.

 

Setting up UPS Account using Full-Pricing Control

  1. Click Full Pricing Control (Note: If you are planning on printing shipping labels within your Order Manager- You will want to make sure to enter your account credentials with UPS)
  2. Click $ symbol to enter your pricing schedule
  3. You have the option to calculate shipping rates by weight, item total, or item count. The figure below shows weight as an example.
  4. The Store Override Schedule will allow you to set an override for the shipping method to use in certain stores
  5. Click Save
 

Creating a Shipping Method

After saving your account credentials:  

  1. Click UPS
  2. Click Shipping Method
  3. Click Add New Shipping Method

Note: Here you will see a warning that no shipping methods have been configured. But this will be your next step.

 

Creating a Shipping Method with Real-Time Rates

After clicking the 'Add New Shipping Method' button you will see the following controls:

  1. Add Method From Template: After the creation of a shipping method- You can make a copy/modify to create additional shipping methods.
  2. Create Custom Shipping Method: Here you can configure the settings for each shipping method you create.
    • Method Name: Name of shipping option- This is what you shopper will see- Examples: Ground, Second Day, Next Day etc.
    • Stores: You can assign the method to a single store or ALL stores.
    • Description (optional): Add a description to the shipping method to help keep everything organized. The descriptions are only for internal view.
    • **UPS Method: Select the UPS method you would like to associate with the newly created shipping method. Real-Time rates will use the selected method to generate the shipping cost. You can only choose UPS methods that are offered with your account/integration. If you choose a method that is not available with your UPS account- Real-time rates will not calculate and the method will not be a valid shipping option on your store front.
    • Process Days: This is the number of production days needed to process the order.
    • RUSH Markup(%): You can define a RUSH markup percentage for this method. It will be added to the shipping costs as its own line item.
    • Days in Transit Min: Minimum days in transit for the shipping method.
    • Days in Transit Max: Maximum days in transit for the shipping method.

                   Note: Process days added to the min/max shipping time will be the estimated shipping time (business days).

                             Ex. 7 process days and a Min Transit of 3, Max Transit of 5, would give an estimated shipping time of 10-15 days.

  • No Discounts: By checking this box, it will exclude discounts from being applied to this shipping method.
  • No Shipping Address: Allow customers to select this method with out filling in a shipping address.

                   Note: This option does not work for the Starter theme, Fundraiser Stores, or Signs & Banners stores.

  • Shipping Restrictions:(the first 4 are allowances) Here you can make decisions about where you are willing to ship. PO Box, Commercial, Residential and Countries. Most of this is dictated by the Shipping Carrier and Method you have configured. For example, FedEx and UPS do not ship to PO Box.
  • Active: By checking this box, this shipping method is considered 'active' and available in the Checkout process.
  • Sort Order: The order in which the shipping method will display during the Checkout process.

                  Note: Most business owners choose to display shipping methods in order of least to most expensive.

3.   Click the Save button when done

**This field is only available with Real-Time Rates (Integrated shipping accounts)

 

Creating a Shipping Method with Full Pricing Control

Shipping Method Options

**Shipping Price: Set the intial price for the shipping method when the minimum is 0. If you need to adjust the minimum or add additional pricing lines click the $ symbol to the right of the shipping method after it has been created (Skip to the next step to see this example)

3.   Click the Save button when done

**This field is only available with Full Pricing Control

 

Successfully Created Method

After you create your shipping method(s), it will appear as seen below. To manage the newly created method(s):

  1. Click the link to the Name of the method to edit (opens up the settings/form as seen above).
  2. Set the Pricing for the shipping method by clicking on the $ symbol- this option will only show if you are using full-pricing control (refer to 'Setting up Account Using Full-Pricing Control' above)
  3. Here you can click the trash icon to delete.
